ORLEN Południe has been actively engaging in initiatives promoting the protection of natural environment within the local community. This year saw the fifth edition of the eco-friendly campaign organised by ORLEN Południe for the residents of Trzebinia and hosted traditionally in the town square during the public Christmas celebration.
Each attendant who brings at least 5 kg of waste paper on December 19th will receive a Christmas tree. Similarly as in previous years, ORLEN Południe has prepared 500 rooted trees that, following the Christmas period, may be used to decorate several hundred backyard gardens.
The event will also include various attractions held as part of the St. Nicholas’ Day Science Fair – educational shows and workshops for children. A series of attractions for young scientists will include, among others, an acidity test and making Christmas keepsakes using a polymerization reaction. Various stands will also feature knowledge competitions in the area of environmental protection. Naturally, there will also be no shortage of special attractions prepared specifically for the youngest attendants: competitions, fun activities and face painting. Fun will be promoted by colourful mascots: A polar bear, Sven the Reindeer and Olaf the Snowman.
The success achieved by all editions of the “A tree in exchange for waste paper, eco-friendly come rain or shine!” campaign perfectly displays the growing interest in
and awareness regarding environmental protection issues. The environmental protection event prepared by ORLEN Południe will also have a social dimension. Funds raised by collecting waste paper will go to one of the local pro-social institutions. We count on the residents’ already traditional involvement in the eco-friendly campaign and that they will not show up at the town square in Trzebinia barehanded.
