As part of active policies aimed at minimising the impact of the company on the environment, ORLEN Południe has voluntarily agreed to join the Responsible Care programme. To prove that ORLEN Południe fulfils all requirements, the jury has provided it with the right to use the name and logo of the programme.
By joining the initiative, ORLEN Południe has committed itself to undertake actions for sustainable reduction of burdens for the environment, to strive after a continued and consistent improvement of safety and protection of health of its employees. Simultaneously, due to the fact that ORLEN Południe is a part of the international initiative Responsible Care that is at present implemented in nearly 60 countries all over the world, it can exchange experiences and gain knowledge on many levels of business organisations. ORLEN Południe is the fifth company of ORLEN Group that has qualified to the programme.
Responsible Care was launched in 1984 in Canada by the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada. It manifests the willingness of the global chemistry industry to commit itself to effective actions aimed at compliance with bioethics standards, improving working conditions, increasing the safety of generation facilities, and maintaining ongoing contact with surroundings.
The idea of the programme is to run a business based on steady and reliable foundations of "sustainable development" such as economic efficiency, care for the environment (the protection of natural resources, systematic minimisation of negative impacts on the environment, effective use of raw materials), and social balance (increasing the quality of life of local communities, promoting environmental education).
